Mint Stamp

A mint stamp is one which is in its original state of issue, is unused, has never been mounted and has full gum, if issued with gum. The term applies equally to postage stamps and revenue stamps.

Souvenir Sheets

Postage stamps are sometimes issued in souvenir sheets or miniature sheets containing one or a small number of stamps souvenir sheets typically include additional art work or information printed on the selvage ,the border surrounding the stamps.Some issues are produced as individual stamps as well as sheets.

First Day Cover

First day cover is a postage stamp on a cover, postal card or stamped envelope franked on the first day the issue is authorized for use within the country or territory of the stamp-issuing authority.

Used Stamp

A postage stamp is a small piece of paper issued by a post office, postal administration, or other authorized vendors to customers who pay postage (the cost involved in moving, insuring, or registering mail),

Welcome to Lanka Stamp, which covers four major areas of stamp collecting. Mint stamps, Souvenir sheets, First day covers and Used stamps. We have over 25000 stamps from various countries, with the majority of the collection coming from Sri Lanka, UK, Canada, USA and former U.S.S.R.

This collection consists of stamps from 1900’s to 2020 (from former Ceylon/modern day Sri Lanka). During the British colonial times, all stamps were considered as crown colony issues and depicted only the crown and the bust of the King or Queen of England. Pictorial stamp issues commenced for the first time in Sri Lanka in 1935.

This collection includes commemorative issues (distinguished personalities, celebrations, sports activities, religious celebrations etc.), special issues (fauna and flora, wildlife and nature ) and definitive issues (postage and revenue stamps).
